FAQs

When will new pieces be available?

I release new work in batches typically once a month. The best way to find out when something is coming is by signing up for my email list or following me on social media.

How long does shipping take?

Orders usually ship within 2 business days (Monday–Friday). I ship via UPS unless the order is going to a P.O. Box, in which case I use USPS. Transit times vary depending on your location.

Do you ship internationally?

I don’t currently offer international checkout on the website, but if you're outside the U.S. and interested in a piece, feel free to contact me—I’m happy to get you a shipping quote.

Is your work food-safe?

Most pieces are finished with a food-safe oil, but they are intended for decorative use unless otherwise stated. If you choose to use them for food, dry contents only are recommended such as fruit. Please refer to the product listing for details.

Why does my piece have a crack or uneven shape?

Many of my pieces are made using the once-turned method, where the wood is shaped while it’s still green (wet). As it dries, the wood naturally warps, moves, and may develop small cracks. This is a normal and intentional part of the process—it gives each piece a unique form and character.

If cracks do appear, I stabilize them to ensure the piece is sound. In most cases, I leave them unfilled to highlight the natural beauty of the wood, but occasionally I’ll fill one if it makes sense for the piece.

How should I care for my piece?

These pieces are intended primarily for decorative use, but a little care goes a long way. Wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth to remove dust. Avoid soaking in water or exposing the piece to prolonged direct sunlight, as that can cause unnecessary fading or stress on the wood. If used to hold dry food (like fruit), make sure the surface stays clean and dry between uses.

Can I return or exchange an item?

Because each piece is one-of-a-kind and made by hand, I do not accept returns or exchanges unless the item arrives damaged. If something's wrong with your order, contact me within 5 days of delivery and I’ll make it right.

Where do you get your wood?

I work mostly with locally sourced woods—often from salvaged or storm-fallen logs here in North Carolina. I try to use material that would otherwise be bound for the dump or cut into firewood; giving it a second life.

Can I find your work in person?

I currently have Carolina Grain Co. work in two locations - BL Makers Market in Thomasville, NC and Greenhill Gallery in Greensboro, NC. I will also occasionally do craft shows as well but those are also centered around my work for Carolina Grain Co. For the style of work you see here, as of now, the website is the only place for purchase but I do plan to change that in the future. For future updates, be sure to subscribe to the newsletter and/or follow me on social media.

Do you accept custom orders?

At this time, I do not offer custom or made-to-order pieces. All of my work is created individually and offered as-is when it's available.
